What Else Do You Need?
An exploration into lost poetry and future songwriting. hearts.
You wear respect like a suit of armor
your kindness like moon boots
but you’re floating away
and I wish you would stay
you can’t find me
my arms are weak
and they’re shaking
untethered, but held to the ground
this dry and barren ground
GRAVITY
I dreamed you came running
I’d lost what you found
you always say goodbye
I was well through my coffee
before drinking in reality
left the smile on my pillow
too kind, too curious, too careful, too open to you
you poured the cup
I drank it up
sipping sadness
seeking gladness
scrapping my nest
sinking madness
I toss it all
you let it fall
still standing
ALONE
take a step
open the door
close it again
I’m not here
I’m orbiting the moon
admiring the holes in the surface
what’s underneath?
Put on your jacket
lace your shoes
can’t wait for you
When you come back
i might not be here
i’ve already packed
boots
books
and beer
